**Update** Friday 11th September 2009
Well things really have taken a back step over the past few months. I bought another 106 and really i was concentrating on it. Its now for sale and the Rallye is back in the mind at least. Going to take a totally new direction with the car. Hopefully i will be able to update more regularly in the coming months and having a debut in early 2010. In the meantime here is the 106 I bought and had fun with over the summer with:

**Update** Sunday 4th January 2009

Received a phone call from my mechanic mi16chris just before Christmas:

“Are you sitting down?”….. I thought “No, no i don’t wanna know, just burn it!” but turns out the engine is at last running!

Although a new radiator is needed along with a host of nuts and bolts that probably went missing when the head was taken apart by the first man who got his hands on it. Although more likely it was the cowboy who actually fitted the 16v engine as mi16chris pointed out it had been very sloppily done. So plans are to pick the car up on Wednesday evening and get her home! I know Chris and Mark will be glad to see the back of her as they have had it since July… sorry lads my fault :(

Hopefully the updates from here on in will be packed full of progress pictures as alot of the work that is left to do is cosmetic, unless its starts acting like a French car again and starts going wrong!!!

**Update** Thursday 2nd October 2008

Well things are not getting any better with the Rallye im afraid to say we have found out recently that the remapped ECU is knackered along with the 4-2-1 Manifold. Last week i bought a second ECU which i received today but it turns out its not running correctly on the rallycar (which to the best of my knowledge is utterly std) as we where using it to test it. The 4-2-1 can be sorted with a bit of welding i think but its far from ideal. Really getting frustrated at the moment with the car as I thought we where close to getting the engine running again.

**Update** 6th July 2008

Unfortunately rather than being able to tell you all that I am getting close to completion with the car I have to say the car wont be seeing the light of day until next April.

Technically I could have the car out for August, as the money is there but to insure it, MOT it and tax it was going to be leaving me in a tight situation. Also i could end up spending all this money getting it ready for it to fail the MOT over something silly which would more than likely set the car back a week or two.

This would give me even less time to drive the car as i decided im only going to use it during the “drier” months of the year (although that’s debatable at the moment) i.e April to September. So having it for two months didn’t make much sense.

Another big part of the decision was all the things i was ending up leaving out just to get the car out – now that i have extended the time i have to sort the car it will allow for some of the modifications i was really wanting to do.

So there you have it…. roll on Pugfest 2009 the cars first outing
